Who I am:

I recently graduated from a comprehensive six month certification program in Animal Assisted Therapy through Animal Behavior Institute. I am a member of PATH International, and am currently enrolled in their Fundamentals of EAL (Equine Assisted Learning) certificate program.

I’m also the owner of Rainbow Reins, LLC, where I gave pony rides at parties and community events, and riding lessons on my farm from 2005-2020 in the Tri-Cities and surrounding area. I ended that part of my business at the beginning of the pandemic and did not re-start.

I have been managing 10-15 horses at any given time at my barn for 25 years, including boarding others’ horses. I have volunteered with many local organizations including Rascal Rodeo, the Richland Rider’s Club, Pet Overpopulation Prevention, Mustang Forces, Benton County Canine Shelter and Ignite Youth Ministry.

I recently retired from Pacific Northwest National Laboratory after over 20 years of employment and am excited to begin a new life chapter bringing horses and people together once again.

What I do:

I offer unmounted low-key experiential equine-assisted learning activities in the serene, relaxing environment of our family farm. They are self-paced and center on the human-animal bond. Some of the activities may be horsemanship-based interactions, such as leading the horse through various obstacles. This can boost confidence and communication skills, provide stress and anxiety relief, enhance emotional awareness, trust and empathy. You can come out as little or often as you like, by yourself or in a small group, up to four people. Contact me if you’d like a pre-session walk-thru.

What I am not:

  • I am not a mental-health therapist for humans. However, if you have one, I can work in conjunction with them for your equine-based activities. You can also contact Redemption Ridge for Animal Assisted Therapy for Trauma.
  • I am not a therapeutic riding instructor. You can contact Therapeutic Riding of Tri-Cities at TROT for more information on their services.
  • I am not a petting zoo for children. You can contact Bit of Happiness Farm in West Richland for children/farm animal interactions.
  • I am not a riding instructor and do not give mounted lessons on my equines. You can contact the Richland Rider’s Club for a listing of their local riding instructors.
  • I am not a 501(c) non-profit organization. If you are a veteran, first responder or healthcare worker, Mustang Forces provides Equine Assisted Therapy classes at no cost to these groups.
  • I am not covered by medical or mental health insurance.
